Top Gifts For Gardeners

Gift giving can be a mixture of pain and pleasure – especially when you are trying to find that “perfect present”! In an ideal world, we find that gift which expresses our love and sends our gift givee into orbit with happiness. The present might be something your gardener has wanted for a really long time. It might be something that could be really useful or will save him or her a lot of time or effort. That being said, I assume you are here because your loved one is a gardener. This hobby brings out the passion in many people. As a fairly new gardener, I can understand that passion. I am forever dragging my husband…my neighbor…my guests…my kids (you get the picture right?) out to look at my new seedlings or my pretty rainbow Swiss Chard. You can tap into this passion by giving them a gift that can be used when he or she gardens – or maybe get a whimsical gift like the Cat Massacre Garden Gnome Statue I list below. You can pick her up a Week by Week Gardening Journal (SO helpful for tracking seasons) or maybe a popular and helpful gardening book such as the one I just received Trowel and Error: Over 700 Organic Remedies, Shortcuts, and Tips for the Gardener. This book has incredibly useful tips and is beautifully illustrated. I cant get enough of it. Luckily and thanks to Amazon, you don’t have to research too hard on finding the best gift ideas for gardeners. They already help us find out the growing trends and most popular or wished for products – including gardening items! Below, I am going to list out for you Amazon’s most wished for and most popular gifts for vegetable gardeners. You will get a lot of inspiration from all of these gift ideas and by the end of this list, you’ll know all the cool gifts for gardeners and have your loved one checked off your list in no time with the assurance they will absolutely loooove what you got them! Best Gifts For Gardeners on Amazon

1. Garden Gloves With Quick Dig Claws

This gift could double as both a gag gift and a useful one. It would also make fun stocking stuffers for gardeners. The claws keep the fingernails intact and the hands protected when weeding or digging. Take note, there are two pair of gloves in this package which is really nice. I bet the second pair could be given to one of the kids so he can help mom weed the garden! Make sure your gardener is right handed though. If she is a lefty like me, you can get double handed claws like these here.

2. Garden Good Luck Elephant Statue

This adorable, Good Luck Elephant Statue is just as cute as can be. When an elephant’s trunk is in an upward position, it is a sign of good luck. Now who doesn’t want a little more luck in their life AND their garden?!? It is 12″ high and made out of resin – perfect for outdoor weather.

3. 8 or 9 Piece Garden Tool Sets

Both of these tool sets are #1 Best Sellers on Amazon. They basically come with everything a gardener needs to get started. Gloves, hand tools, spray bottle and storage tote (which frankly I am enamored of). I cannot decide which of the bags I like better. The patterned pockets are really cute but I also like the height of the other bag. Decisions. Decisions.

4. Ceramic Owl Pots

These 2.5″ owl ceramic pots are incredibly popular on Amazon. Not only did they fall under the category of 2nd most Wished For Gardening item but they are also 3rd place on Amazon’s Gardening Gift Ideas page. The great part is that when you pull up the link for these six adorable pots, you will also see that Amazon pairs them (under the Frequently Bought together section) with a 5-pack of succulents and some soil mix. Now, I am not allowed to tell you exactly what the price is for this package (Amazon rules) but I CAN tell you it is currently under $41 dollars! Pretty fantastic, huh?

5. Plant Theatre Grow Kits Gift Box

So these Grow Kits are actually pretty cool. They come with everything you need to grow the particular vegetables or herbs listed. Biodegradable peat pots, peat discs (you put the seeds in these – its basically the soil), plant markers and of course, the seeds. The Funky Veg kit comes with purple carrots, striped tomatoes, purple/red brussels sprouts, and rainbow swiss chard. The Herb Garden kit comes with thyme, chives, parsley, cilantro, tarragon and basil. If you have a budding young gardener, think of what an amazing gift this could be for them! Or someone who is stuck indoors all winter can get these started and have them ready to transplant when spring arrives (there is No Thing more therapeutic than watching seedlings come up when it is cold and barren outside!).

Plant Theatre has other great garden kits as well (you can check them out here). From growing bonsai trees to a cocktail garden kit. They have covered everything!

6. Coloring Book for Adults

I would like to publicly thank the person who made it okay for adults to color! What an awesome and therapeutic practice – especially for those of us who are artists in our heads but not so much in reality. This fun coloring book has both floral and animal designs at various levels of difficulty too. (This is for people like me who need to start back at kindergarten level.) There is a bonus downloadable pdf too with even more pages to color.

7. Clear Window Bird Feeder

What fun this gift is! This bird feeder with its suction cups attaches itself to a window so that nature is practically invited into your gardener’s house. Think how much cheer seeing birds at one’s window on a cold, wintry day will bring. It is easy to install. The bird seed drawer is removable making it easy to fill and clean.  It is also extremely popular with a 4.8 star rating and over 3,500 reviews. If I might make a small suggestion…research the types of birds that hang out in your gardener’s area during winter and order a bag of that particular bird’s fav food to go with this gift. Perfect present combo!

8. Garden Kneeler & Seat

I have this exact bench andloveit! I can sit on it when planting in my raised planters or flip it over and kneel on it when pulling weeds in the flower garden. It also folds up and stores away very nicely. In fact, it is so comfy that my 20-something daughter pulled it up to our kitchen table and used it for a chair. Does your gardener have bad knees or back problems? Do her a favor and buy her this bench pronto! It will be much appreciated.

9. Trowel and Error: Over 700 Organic Remedies, Shortcuts, and Tips for the Gardener

This is the book I mentioned in the beginning that I just received and is so wonderful. It is a rather small sized book (6in x 7in) but has 200 pages of incredible advice from an experienced organic gardener. The illustrations are beautiful and totally adds to the attractiveness of the book. Do you have a friend or family member who is trying very hard to grow organically (easier said than done – believe me!) then get her this book? Seriously. Oh, and I totally recommend the paperback over the kindle version. You just cannot appreciate the effort put into the images unless you’re holding it in your hand. This is definitely one of the best gifts for vegetable gardeners not only for the valuable tips but also for the sweet art inside!

10. WiFi Sprinkler Controller – Works with Amazon Alexa

This is a fun present for your gadget geeks. This sprinkler controller is incredibly advanced and can do cool things like change the watering schedule based on predicted rainfall or customize the schedule based on your gardener’s soil type and the sun exposure for a particular zone. It even works with Amazon Alexa. You can control watering with your voice. In fact, it understands 100 different voice commands. It also has an app so your gardener can control watering from anywhere in the world. A second fun present for your gadget geek is this Wireless Weather Station (In fact, I have it my own wishlist hoping, hoping, hoping!) It is also on Amazon’s new Movers & Shakers list and I can see why. It gives the weather forecast, has temperature alerts (important for those gardeners who need to track frost days), an alarm clock and calendar. A cool and fun present to give. I suspect this gift will be out of the box and plugged into a wall before the party is even over.

11. Capiz Shell Wind Chime

This wind chime has a lot going for it. Of course, it’s beautiful and I can only imagine how the sun reflects on the glass but it is also a Fair Trade product – hand made by coastal villagers in Indonesia. I think that’s pretty awesome, don’t you? The wind chime itself is 20″ long and is made of wood and seashells. Small warning. You will buy this for its beauty and to support Fair Trade Practices – not necessarily for its melodic sound.

12. Spiralizer 5-Blade Vegetable Slicer

This particular spiralizer is rated #1 best seller on Amazon. It is also in their new Movers & Shakers section. It’s a fun, yet affordable, appliance to give your vegetable and fruit loving friends. This new model will even spiralize root veggies such as sweet potatoes. Another idea is to give this to your friend or relative who is struggling to get her kids to eat their veggies. They look SO fun and inviting in spirals! On a side note, I got this pair of herb cutting scissors for my birthday in September and ILOVETHEM! It makes quick work of my herbs. Huge improvement over my chef’s knife. Takes half the time. The scissors are easy to clean up too!

13. Hand Blown Glass Hummingbird Feeder

This gorgeous hand blown hummingbird feeder will make a great gift for any and all hummingbird fans. It holds 30 ounces of fluid and has 4 ports for the hummingbirds to rest and drink. The reviewers love this feeder as well and there are many repeat customers in the reviews. One small warning. It sounds like the S-hook is frequently forgotten in the packaging so maybe pick up another one for your gardener so she can hang the feeder up that day!

14. Zen Garden Yogi Gnome Statue

My mom has this big love affair with garden ornaments. If I can find one that suits her taste, then I’ve earned big brownie points for that holiday! I looove the little bluebird coming out of this gnome’s beard. SO cute! If your gardener is also into yoga (many of us are), then you have hit two passionate hobbies in one present! This little guy could be put anywhere and be totally appreciated.

15. Organic Herb Growing Kit + Herb Grinder

This fun set gives your gardener everything she needs to grow basil, cilantro, chives and parsley. Peat pots, pretty bamboo plant markers, seed packets, soil discs (they expand when you water them) and a growing guide. It also comes with an herb grinder which is pretty darn cool if you ask me!

16. Frog Tree Peeker Animal Sculpture

This adorable tree frog sculpture will add a ton of personality to anybody’s garden. The fun part is its subtlety – you see him but you don’t. His back has the appearance of bark but it’s the cute expression that will capture your heart. It is made of poly-resin so is quite durable and has two keyhole hangers for convenience. Oh, and he’s 6 inches long. When you click on the picture to check this frog out, scroll down. There are a ton of really cute tree sculptures on Amazon. Verrrry difficult to pick just one!

17. Multi-function 2-Wheeled Yard Cart, Dolly, and Wheelbarrow

This very useful multi-function wheelbarrow is quite versatile. It holds up to 200lb and can convert to a cart or appliance dolly. It comes with a flower pot strap, mesh rock mover, trailer mover and bag holder. It also has some really cool add-ons for converting either into a snow plow or wagon with a seat. This is an incredibly versatile gift and I cannot imagine any gardener not loving the usefulness of it.

18. Cat Massacre Garden Gnome Statue

We’ll end this list on a light-hearted note. I admit I am not a big fan of garden gnomes (but am a cat fan!) so find this statue pretty darn funny! It is clearly popular because it made it to several of Amazon’s Most Popular lists! Who wouldn’t roll over laughing when they open up their present and see this cat staring at them?!? Seriously.
