Surprisingly, one of my most popular blogs is my article on inexpensive garden themed wedding favors (click here to check out it out). Since it is so popular (and who doesn’t LOVE to write about weddings), I thought I would follow it up with this one on romantic garden wedding ceremony decorations.

We need the wedding garden decorations to go with the wedding garden favors, right? And I do aim to please!

Once again, I went to our old friend Pinterest to get the scoop on what is trending right now and who has the most romantic ideas for garden wedding theme decorations. Thanks Pinterest!

Garden Theme Wedding Ideas

Flower Petals for Wedding Aisle

1000pcs Rose Petals (Pink plus White)Flower petals laid out on the walkway before the bride and her party are the epitome of romantic, yes? One of the more unique garden wedding ideas I have seen is laying the petals out in designs. For example, a beach themed wedding had sunfish designs, others were in swirls (as shown in the pin below). Wonderfully romantic, yes?

Real flower petals can be somewhat pricey though; $100 for 3000 rose petals. I realize when you price it alone that’s not so bad but hear me out on this. On Amazon you can buy 1000 beautiful silk, pink and white rose petals for less than $6.00. If you go this route, that $80 savings can go toward your honeymoon!

Pros of using silk flowers. You can buy them way in advance and let them sit in your closet until you are ready for them. You’re saving money. After your wedding, you could craft with them, resell or pass them on to a friend.

Cons: You will have to clean them up after the ceremony is over.

Hanging Wisteria

See all that gorgeous wisteria hanging down? I am picturing that weaved through all of your lights or hanging over everyone’s head at your reception.

Decorating Mason Jars with Fresh Flowers

This is one of those romantic, yet very simple ideas for a garden theme wedding. Buy 3-4’ shepherd’s hooks and hang mason jars on them with fresh flowers. This pin shows them along the wedding aisle but I don’t see why they couldn’t be hung all over the place. I especially like the twine they used to hang the jars. Nice country touch.

Additional Ideas: The mason jars could either be colored (Amazon has many colored mason jars you can buy.) Or you could dye the water one of your theme colors. The flowers could be as simple as wildflowers such as asters, sunflowers, lavender, daisies (one of my favorites!). Greens could be dogwood branches or ferns, etc.

Also, how about hanging a tag from the mason jar with the couple’s names on it? Or with a favorite saying or poem…

DIY Entrance or Ceremony Backdrop

Not only could this be a great backdrop for your ceremony (or entrance) but also for your photo shoot. You could put up anything from a set of old doors to an arch of hanging flowers to a sheer curtain. Not seeing it? Check out the pins below for inspiration.

For obvious reasons, I am digging this idea! Maybe offer some cute, inexpensive flip flops in various sizes for those who do not like to or cannot walk barefoot?

Hanging Lights

You can get pretty creative here. From hanging stringed outdoor bulbs (that could easily transition to your outdoor deck at your new home!) to jars with sand and candles in them similar to the pin below. If your wedding is at dusk or an evening affair, you will definitely want something fun to light the way.

Wedding Cards Wishing Well

Of course you always need someplace tactful for your guests to leave their cards. A wishing well goes perfectly with your garden wedding theme. Again, you have a LOT of flexibility here on how you want it to look.

In essence, anything that has a rustic look would fit well. You could use a cute wooden box like this handmade one I found on Amazon, a small wine barrel, or one of those cute vintage looking cardboard boxes we always find at stores like Ross or TJ Maxx, etc.

Garden Themed Wedding Centerpieces

Table Lantern Centerpieces

These cute and rustic looking table lanterns would be adorable on any garden themed table. You have a lot of options too. You could put flameless candles in them with flowers, Spanish moss, greenery, etc.

Terrarium Centerpieces

These terrarium centerpieces with the candle, flowers and greenery are G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S! In fact, I like how this wedding set the whole table up. Additional lights of varying shapes strategically set out, extra greenery laid casually on the table and even the terrariums are of different sizes. I like it! I like it!

Wildflowers in Vases

This idea is beautiful in its simplicity. They took small, clear glass vases (I bet you could do some thrift store shopping and find as MANY as your heart desires. What a great excuse for a wedding party excursion and then a margarita-based lunch afterward to celebrate your finds!) and put just a few wildflowers in each one. Around them are candles – also in glass. I see nothing wrong with mixing and matching here – especially if you are going for a vintage or rustic look.
